Legal Empowerment and Paralegal Training Project for Domestic Workers
CHODAWU, in partnership with the International Domestic Workers Federation (IDWF) and Women in Informal Employment: Globalizing and Organizing (WIEGO), is implementing a Legal Empowerment and Paralegal Training Project aimed at equipping domestic workers with the knowledge and tools to understand, claim, and defend their rights at work.
The second training workshop, held at King Jada Hotel in Dar es Salaam from October 7–11, 2025, brought together CHODAWU’s trained paralegals from various regions. The sessions focused on:
Reviewing key concepts and skills from previous training sessions;
Deepening understanding of legal empowerment and introducing a critical approach to law;
Enhancing practical skills in facilitation, negotiation, and advocacy;
Developing a unified work strategy for CHODAWU paralegals in the months ahead.
This initiative reflects CHODAWU’s ongoing commitment to empowering domestic workers, promoting access to justice, and strengthening the capacity of union paralegals to provide effective support to workers across Tanzania.
